Science Fiction

I personally believe that the science fiction genre is more appealing to boys because it usually has more action in it that most books. I think that boys are very easily destracted and if they have something that is more fun to do like kick the footy or go on the computer they would do it over reading a book. But the genre science fiction is at least a little bit exciting in some parts of the book and this is the type of books that boys generally like to read.

The genre science fiction isnt my personal favourite and therefor thsi does not really relate to me. i personally hate reading so i dont realyl have a type of genre that i enjoy at all. But from others point of views they may really like it because they have good story lines and have action in them.

My favourite type of genre is sports book or auto biographys an example of this is the book written by steve waugh and it is about his test and 1 day career this is the type of book that i enjoy reading.

Poetry

I believe that poetry has remained popular for centuries and generations because that it is a good way to get the message across. I also think because it is a very powerful type of writing and that it is a type oif writing that is a challange to master.

The most popular types of poems in today society would have to be rhym and imagery.

I think that poetry has the role of making writing hard. I also think that it is good to have in youir life becaus if you want to make a meaning full speech poetry is a good way to do it. Poerty is a good type of writing that is a good skill to have.

One thing that may appeal to people about poetry is that it can have a good tune to it. Also it can be a way of writing a meaning full thing to someone.

I enjoy ryhm poetry the most because it can sound cool and can make things look good. Rhym is a skill to develop and when you get good at it it sounds really good and people wish that they could do it.

A poem that i know is Jack and Jill. The type of poem that Jack and Jill is Rhym. The thing that makes this poem memerable is that i liked the poem as a little kid and i still think that it is clever.

I think that this quotation means that poetry is important I'm the human life i think that it brings more meaning to words and makes them more affective.

I kind of believe the statement that is made at the top of page six, i only kind of believe this because some people live for poetry and it is all they do. But on the other hand there are other people that don't use poetry at all and don't believe in it. There are some people also the are the same as me use it every now and then so that is why i only kind of believe it.

the examples of everyday poetry i got were a death notice out of the paper and an advertisement from the radio about jobs.

the purpose of the one on the radio is to get a catchya tune into you head so when you are looking for a job you go on there site. the tune goes jobs jobs jobs jobs.com.au over and over again. the death notice is because it adds more deapth and heart to it. It involves more thinking and is a good way to sum up there life.

Todd and his injury

Young toddy is a boy in the year 10 A's football team at my school. i'm am one of the captian's of the team. Todd is a big contributer to our team he plays in the foward lines and roves our big fowards really well. Todd has also kicked many goals this season 15 goals to be precise. Todd has a little bit of hight to him and is a valuable player to the 10 A football team.



Not only is Todd a good member on game day, he is a good person to have around at training he puts in the hard work and is always encouraging people and trying to help out in what ever way he can.



Todd is a very valuable member of the team, he puts in the hard work and without him at training and games the team feels that we are missing a key player. he is a kind hearted person and the team is suffering from him being out with his injury. we are looking foward to when he gets back.

Novel I Read In The Holdiays

There was a book sent in called holes it had a really good manuscript i think that it would be worth publishing. The book is a bout a kid named Stanley that goes to a detention centre for stealing a pair of shoes. At the Detention centre they have to dig holes day after day he becomes friends with a kid named zero. Stanley is the only kid at the detention centre that can get zero to talk. Zero is sick of the detention centre and he decides to run away, the Gard's ant worried because every kid that has ran away before has died. The reason they have died is because they are in the middle of the desert. Stanley runs away to find zero, he finds zero under a bridge and he is starved and delirious. Stanley runs back to camp and gathers both zeros and his own stuff. they end up running away and climbing a mountain that at the top has onions and a dam of fresh water. Stanley and Zero head back to camp one day and they dig up the treasure that the Gard's had been for. Stanley and Zero ring the police about the treasure and the guards are arrested because the stuff is algal You dont find out what is in the box but stanley and zero along with all the other kids are released from the detention centre.



The audience that the book will appeal to is anyone really it is a book that all reader will enjoy it has a good story line and i think that all ages will enjoy reading this book. the book is ver hard to put down and for me to say that means that i really enjoyed it.

This book should defently be published i think it is one of the best books i have read in my life. The thing that makes the book so good is that it has many parts in the story that keep you reading. the book has a story line that people can realte to making it a very addictive book. It would sell so well because it has a good front cover and once someone has read the book the name will get out and everyone will want to read it. Over all this book was very exciting and i think that if it is not published then people will be missing out on a great book.

Peak Adventure

1. The Peak Adventure activity i am doing next week is white water rafting.
2. I choose to do white water rafting because i have never done it before and it sounds like a lot of fun. i also choose to do it because some of my mates were doing it. white water rafting should be fun because it is classified as an extreme sport.
3. The thing that i will find most challenging is cooking in a Tangier and going without meat for a whole week. i think that the white water rafting itself will take a little while to get my head around but over all it should be a great experience.
4. The thing that i will find most challenging about the trip not including the activity is cooking in a tangier i am use to cooking on a BBQ and a tangier will frustrate me because it takes a stupidly long time to cook a meal.
5. The best part about the peak adventure trip i think will be the bus trip, white water rafting and hanging out with mates, the best bit will be doing drops on the river and smashing into things with out boats.
6. I think it is important to challenge yourself and work outside your comfort zone because if you don't work outside you comfort zone you are never going to know what challenge is. I think that challenging yourself is a big part of life because if you don't you don't know what your full potential is. Working outside your comfort zone is good for you so that if you end up in the situation again you can handle it.

William Shakespeare

I don't recall reading any of Shakespears poetry although there is a fair chance that i have read one but didn't no it was written by him. Shakespeare is a well know poet so although i don't recall reading one i probably have.

I haven't seen any of shakespears plays that i know of. But i have seen a moden shakespear play in " Ten Things I Hate About You ".

I have not read any of Shakespears Play but know of the famous Romeo ANd Juliet.

Yes i have seen some of shakespears modern plays the only one that i know of is "Ten Things I Hate About You". I watched the Movie in year 9 with our english teacher and she pointed out the similarities for his original work and the modern version.

All I know about Shakespear is that he is famous for writing plays poems and text. I also know that he is world famous and most schools study him at some stage.

I wouldn't be interested in the play Macbeth that Mr S is putting on becaue i dont like acitng and i dont really enjoy having to give up my time for plays.

To mention Macbeth it is known to bring bad luck to the play and the actors performing. because lots of unlucky things happened in the week before Macbeth. Actors were hurt, the globe theatre was burnt to the ground.

This summer, let'em READ a movie

I think that the Author started this blog entry because he wants kids to get off the couch and off the computer and use there own minds to entertain themselves. The Author is also trying to be educational and most of his blogs are.

I think that the slogan "readers are the leaders otheres follow" means that readers have an advantage over other people, because when you read you learn many things were as people that dont read dont learn things that readers read. There for readers are more educated than people who dont.

The people who would be interested in reading this blog would be parents that are worried about what there kids are going to do in there spare time. parents would find this interesting because it has solutions to there questions.

The blog that i read was "This summer, let'em READ a movie" this particular post was published on saturday April 07 2007.

The blog was about trying to get your kids off the couch and off the computer it was also about Elliot Andersons adventure novels the novels are eduactional and a good read for the whole family. He has written a few novels and all are educational.

The bit in the blog that i found interesting was that sitting in front of a computer and sitting on a couch is not healthy were a reading a book is healthy i found this interesting because i didnt no about this fact.

I did not feel inclined to leave a comment because i dont think that leaving a comment on this particular blog will mean much to the publisher. Although it was a very interesting read

The Way I Find A Book

To find a novel in a libary i usally ask around if people reconmend any books. But most people dont enjoy the books i do so i usally end up with a book that has a good looking cover. If i cant find a book with a cool cover i just tend to browse the shelfs and pick out a book with something to do with sport on the cover. I dont really spend much time at all in a libary and i dont like them very much becaue they are scary at times and there are too many books.

I think that this method works well for me becaue most books i pick out are usally interesting. Although i have picked a fair few dud books and could do with some help when it comes to findinig a good book. Over all though i think that i can find a good book to read ever now and then.

The book that i am reading now i am no longer reading because i did not find it very interesting at all. The way that i found the book was that someone else in the class was reading it so i thought that i would read it but as i found out this is not a good method for finding books. I would not recommend this book to anyone else because i didnt enjoy what i read of it.

Novel

The title of my book that i am currently reading is called DEAD Reckoning by James McQueen. The physical description of the character is a young boy that is about 13-14. He is short but had a normal sized build. There life in the story is about him and his older sister trying to find their dad after he dissapears one night. The issues that they face are when they are serching for there day they find new scary things out about his life. They are being narrated in the novel.

I havent read enough of the book to find out why the author has created this character. I am still reading to find out why the author has written about the type of family they are in.

The stroy would not really change much if the main character was changed from a male to a female as a female can do everything a male can do to try find there dad. A female in this case could maybe even be better as they think about things like that better than males do.

I think that people would rather do a blog because then you can get peoples opinions on what you have written. Also a blog is written for an audience where as a diary is personal. I think that it depends on the situation but most people would prefer to write for an audience. The best thing about writing a blog is that people can give you help when they write a comment.



I think that a diary differs from a blog because a diary is personal where a blog is for an audience. In a diary you put in personal and possibly inbassasing moments were as a blog you would avoid this because anyone can read it. A blog is once again for people to read and a diary is for only you and who ever you want to share it with.

i read a book by a guy named tom he wrote about the book Lockie Lenard. he wrote about it becasue it looked like an assignment. it is a book report and he is only 13 so i think that there whole class has to do a similar thing to our class. The young lad dosent have a collection of readers and only has 1 comment. I think he updates it everytime he has finished a book

Story 2

The secon short story i read was called Holes by Louis Sachar. The book was about a boy named Stanley Yelnads and his good mate that he meets at the camp his name is Zero. He is called Zero at camp because he says nothing but later Stanley finds out that his real name is Hector Zeroni. The Story is about a camp where young bouys go for when they have done something wrong like break the law. They have to dig holes for there worden she is looking for something from a long time ago when she went on a killing spree. The camp is in the middle of the desert and no one runs away because there is no were to run to. Stanley and Zero run away and they nearly die of starvating and dehydration. Stanley remembers that his grandpa told him that is you climb up the only mountain that you can see there will be onions and water at the top which there was. The boys return to camp and recieve a punishment of lots of diging. The boys find the case that the warden was looking for. Stanley and Zero are rescued by Stanleys parents because they find out about the history of the warden and the warden never gets to see whats in the case.

I liked the whole story line it was a book that was hard to put down and i really enjoyed reading. Holes is a book that most kids have read. The book is very interesting and keeps you guessing what is going to happen next.

I dont think that the book could have a lot of improving although, it could been made a better book if there was a conflict between the groups that were formed, ie stanleys and zeros group could have a conflict with another group then they could be mean to each other by getting each other in trouble and getting punished for things they didnt do.

The book was more a novel than a short story. But i would read anothr book from the same author as i really enjoyed reading the book Holes.

Short story book 1

Hey everone i have recently read a book called The Wombat King written by Philip Neilsen and Mark Wilson. The book is about a young boy that is not a normal kid. He enjoys sneaking out of his house at night to go to the near by forest. The reason he does this is because he likes to see the animals active and he believes that the wombats are still in the area, where as his dad and mum tell him that there is no wombats. The young boys name is christopher he leaves not on the fridge each night pretending to be the Wombat King his paents have no idea where the notes are comming from. One night christopher gets caught escaping from the house and his parents put bars on his windows so he cant escapse. His mother says that he should go out in the forest and stay the night in the forest with his dad. they do this and they dont find a wombat. but christopher goes out a night after this and sees the wombat he was very happy.



I liked the book becase it kept you guessing what was going to happen next. and also it wasnt a very long book and i found it very easy to read.

This book could have been better if it had a little bit more of a problem in the book and if it was a little bit more in depth The book was very basic but i think that i could have had a few more events in it to make it more interesting.

I enjoyed reading short storys because for me it felt like i was actually getting through a book which i dont ever really experience. I thought they were better than novels becaue they were much easier to read. I would select another book from this series becasue i enjoyed reading a book that i felt that i could read in the time we had set

i recon that i am a very slow reader and this is probably because i dislike reading and i dont do it enough. I find it hard to concerntrate on reading as i find it very boring and there for i dont ready many books at all. The only type of book i really enjoy reading are sports books and crime books. I have never liked reading because i play lots of sports and dont enjoy sitting around with my head stuck in a book. The only time i ever read is when we have to in class or for homework otherwise i choose to do other things with my life. the last book that i liked was called deadly unna i enjoyed reading that because it envolved my favourite sport AFL. It also used slang language which i find easier to understand. I hope to inprove my reading in Englsih.
